Things I love about London...that you can see fire works under a bridge, a tunnel crammed with flowers, every inch of the V&A, the ostriches in topshop, that time of day when it's just getting dark and you can see into all the windows and that fat little penguin I met.

Today I have been reading Oh Comely and feeling a tincy bit meloncholic

I love biscuits and why not with such delicate illustrations like these in issue 8 of Oh Comely magazine by Kiley Victoria.

Words Words Words

From today until march Selfridges will be home to it's very own library and exploring the importance of words...looking pretty cool might be worth a peek!

Remember how to be creative?

It's a gloomy January and we're all trying to levy ourselves from our cosy Christmas slumber, and most importantly I am trying to remind myself how and why to be creative.  So here goes...

This is 29 Way To Stay Creative's second appearance here but I musn't forget it so here it is for it's reprise.  And to it I would add 'Let your work dance around' (Sara Ogilvie).

Saturday's Telegraph magazine cover was adorned with one of Cecil Beaton's photographs of the queen, he occupied and eccentric and surreal version of England in his photography he also professed to 'live by' his eyes something I would aspire to do.

how goes the creativity?

WitShop Calendar Purchases

Today we both treated ourselves to one of these assemble-yourself pinboard calendars by WitShop (bought from The Bowery in  Leeds where we also happen to have some of our own merchandise!).  We were so impressed by their loveliness- so simple, yet so nice!

Penguin Threads

I was given one of these lovely books for Christmas...
Jillian Tamaki hand stitches every design (including Jane Austen's Emma and Frances Hodgson Burnett's The Secret Garden), which are then sculpt embossed into full wrap round covers with french flaps.  Beautiful!

Today I Have Mostly Been...

Today I bought a pair of turquoise shoes (my colour for january), found a mouse in the toilet (the work of one nimble cat), checked out my grandad's bogus website "onfrostydays.roy.backgarden.betweengutter/andfence/spiders.com" (worth a chuckle).  And I did some picture making too!  A little mash up of photocopying, collage, mono print and felt tip to clear the cobwebs Charley blew away yesterday.
Thankyou and goodnight x

Hello January

Blowing away the cobwebs...
Here are a series of illustrations that seek to find fun in the overlap between the colours and textures in nature, and those of the city.
